The Private Enterprise Federation, (PEF) with the assistance of StarGhana Foundation engaged the Department of Factories and Offices Inspectorate (DFI),  the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Town and Country Planning Department (now Land and Spatial Planning Authority) to form a strategic partnership to prevent and fight administrative corruption in Ghana, (the “SPPACG Project”) by promoting the use of service charters by these institutions and its subsequent adoption by other public sector institutions.

The initiative has led to the development and printing of service delivery charters for these organizations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery by outlining the steps for accessing their services, quoting fees and helplines with dedicated customer/client service representatives and mechanisms for reporting corruption. This removes opportunities for extortion and bribery and ensures that the business person is able to go through the registration and acquisition of licenses or permits more swiftly and conveniently. The event was well attended by members of the private sector, public sector agencies including the three-focus organizations, civil society groupings and eminent persons. The guest speaker for the event was Hon. Prof. Gyan Baffour, Minister for Planning.

This milestone event was achieved after constant engagement and research together with the agencies led by a consultant hired by PEF to facilitate the preparation of the charters.
